I'm so excited to have one of my projects featured in Donna Downey's Creative Playground newsletter this month, and to share a little tutorial for it here. I've been reading Donna's blog for a while now, and love how she's so open to using and mixing different media. Her fabric-covered journals are gorgeous, and I'm seriously smitten with this fun Christmas kit , too. So much inspiration!
So, to make your own versions of these business card mini-books, you can download the instructions here:
Download Business Card Mini-book instructions .
As well as being quick, easy and
inexpensive to put together, the books are pretty tough, thanks to all the
layers of card and paper. This makes them especially good for slipping into
your bag and carrying with you. Although not completely indestructible, they
will stand up to a hefty amount of opening, closing, battering and general
handbag-abuse.
Something like this little brag
book would make a really sweet Christmas present for a grandma, aunt or even a
new dad to carry around (a thin version would easily fit in a wallet or
pocket).
They're also lovely made in colours to coordinate with a wedding, and then filled with pictures from the day as a thank-you gift for bridesmaids or family members.
The '2007' mini-book at the top of the post was made
as a collection of my favourite photos from last year. They're a real mixture
of things and even without any notes or journalling, each one means something
to me or brings back a particular memory. It's really fun to look back and get
such a concise view of that year in pictures.
With less than a month left until
2008 comes to an end (did you hear me say good riddance?), it's something I'd
like to do again with my photos from this year. And while I'm putting mine
together, I'd love to make one for someone else, too.
It'll be a blank version, decorated
and ready for you to add your own photos, plus a few extra goodies to help you
embellish it a bit more after the pictures are all stuck down. If you'd like to
win it, all you need to do is leave a comment, including your name and preferred
colour(s), and I'll pick a winner at the end of the week. Sound good? As this
is my first ever giveaway, and it's the time of year for being bountiful, I'll
include a few other bits and pieces as well, so the winner gets a nice little
bundle just in time for Christmas. Hurrah!
