Just a little peek at something I've been working on this week. Lots of new projects to come in the next few days, most of them linked to the super-adorable newKitschy kit. If you're quick,Daniellehas a giveway over on her blog.
The last week has been what a politician would call 'challenging' and I spent way too much of it whinging. So this morning, getting an early start on a brand new week, I'm determined to make it a good one, whatever happens. Attitude is all, right?
THINGS FOR WHICH I AM CURRENTLY AND COMPLETELY GRATEFUL:
:: Being part of this amazing creative team. I was stunned and hugely flattered when Danielle asked me to be involved last week. Her work is mind-blowingly wonderful, and I'm so smitten with the Kitschy kits. Lots of projects coming up in future weeks, and a fun tutorial featuring vintage lace from the Skyler kit sometime over the next few days.
:: Being able to order a new printer at 5pm on a Sunday afternoon, from a company who'll have it ready for collection less than 24 hours later. Because your old printer finally gave up the ghost halfway through churning out a pile of invoices, and you're really no use at all to your new creative team (see above) without it. Thank you, John Lewis. Thank you, online shopping.
:: Being the girlfriend of someone who not only dragged me kicking and screaming through the Week of Whinge (as it shall henceforth be known), but also volunteered to pick up the new printer on his way home from work. And will most likely spend the evening setting it up for me, even if it does involve going against his Y-chromosomes and reading the instruction manual.
:: Being the new owner of this beautiful (and beautifully made) owlet. I was lucky enough to win a Halloween giveaway over at Handmade...Cathy Gauberta few weeks ago, and it arrived last week. I've been a big fan of Cathy's gorgeous work over on Flickr for a while now, but only found her blog very recently. If you haven't visited yet, do it now.GO! I can wait...
(The owlet, btw, lives in a smart shadow-box, but my camera was getting lots of glare off the front, so you'll just have to admire him pervy-naked for now.)
Knowing how to begin is always difficult. Do you dive right in and hope everyone keeps up, offer reams of dull-but-necessary exposition, or spend so long thinking about it you never get there at all? Or, go for secret option number 4 - cheat?
I've seen this one-word meme floating about for a while, on Posy Gets Cozy and Sweet Jessie amongst others. It may not be especially original, but as beginnings go, at least it is one.
With any luck, things will get easier from here on in.
